Hydromagnetic Water Coaster

A water coaster driven by linear magnetic propulsion. LIM technology combined with water thrust carries the raft uphill, so the ride can climb repeatedly instead of descending once - the most technically advanced ride in the four-season range, and the first full-size installation of its kind in China.

  • ● Track Length: 335.4 m (reference installation)
  • ● Propulsion: LIM linear induction motor magnetic propulsion combined with water-jet thrust
  • ● Ride Cycle: magnetic-assisted uphill transport followed by dives through enclosed and open track
  • ● Reference Installation: Hefei Sunac Water World - the first full-size installation of its kind in China
  • ● Technology: next-generation LIM water-magnet system
  • ● Operating Season: multi-season / four-season operation

A water coaster with no need to come down - the magnets take you back up.

  • LIM Magnetic Propulsion

linear induction motors drive the raft uphill, with water thrust assisting.

  • Repeated Climb and Dive Cycles

the magnetic drive delivers a full coaster circuit, not a single descent.

  • Enclosed and Open Track

the ride alternates between dark enclosed running and open-air descents.

  • First Full-Size Installation in China

the 335.4 m Hefei Sunac track was the first of its kind in the country.

The Hydromagnetic Water Coaster is the most technically advanced ride in Haisan's four-season range. It applies LIM (linear induction motor) magnetic propulsion in combination with water-jet thrust, so the raft is driven uphill by magnetic force rather than relying on a conveyor alone. The technology is the point: magnetic propulsion gives a smoother, more controllable launch and sustained uphill drive than purely mechanical systems, which is what allows the ride to deliver repeated climbs within a single circuit.

Ride Experience

Riders board a raft that is launched and then driven uphill by the LIM propulsion system, with water thrust supplementing the drive through the flatter sections. The circuit carries riders through both enclosed and open track, so the experience alternates between dark, enclosed running and open-air descents. Because the magnetic system can drive the raft uphill repeatedly, the ride delivers multiple launch and dive cycles rather than a single descent - the sequence a coaster rider expects, delivered with water propulsion. The reference installation at Hefei Sunac Water World runs a track of 335.4 metres and was the first full-size installation of its kind in China.

Configuration and Layout

The reference installation uses a 335.4-metre track with next-generation LIM water-magnet technology, and the rafts are transported uphill by magnetic drive before being released into dives. Because magnetic propulsion removes the dependence on tower height for energy, the ride can be laid out over a relatively low, extended track, which suits sites where a tall structure is not practical. The enclosed and open track sections are designed together with the launch and dive points so the ride alternates predictably between the two, and the system supports extended-season operation as part of the four-season range.

Engineering and Materials

Hydromagnetic Water Coaster is produced at Haisan's manufacturing base in Guangdong, which covers more than 100,000 square metres and operates fibreglass moulding lines, RTM (resin transfer moulding) equipment and five-axis CNC gantry machining. Slide flumes are built from fibreglass-reinforced plastic (FRP) for a smooth, low-friction running surface with consistent wall thickness, while tower and support structures are fabricated from hot-dip galvanized steel to resist corrosion in permanent outdoor service. Each flume section is checked for thickness and joint alignment and is dry-assembled in the factory before shipment, so on-site erection is fast and predictable. The magnetic propulsion system is engineered as an integrated package with the ride control system, so launch and uphill drive are managed dynamically through the circuit rather than at fixed points.

Safety and Compliance

Hydromagnetic Water Coaster is designed and manufactured in accordance with GB 8408-2018 (Safety Code for Large Amusement Devices), GB/T 18164-2020, GB/T 18168-2017 (General Technical Conditions for Water Amusement Facilities) and TSG 71-2023 (Safety Technical Regulations for Large Amusement Devices). Haisan holds the manufacturing and installation licences required for large amusement devices, and every unit passes in-factory testing and on-site commissioning before handover.

Delivery and Support

Haisan supplies Hydromagnetic Water Coaster as part of a full-process package covering concept and layout design, structural calculation, manufacture, shipping, on-site installation, plumbing and electrical works, commissioning, operator training and long-term after-sales support. Because equipment is engineered in modules, delivery and installation can be phased to match the park's construction programme.
