The Water Wheel Slide is a new type of water amusement equipment built around an automated lift rather than a staircase or tower climb. Tourists are transferred to the equipment platform together with the raft by the automated manned lifting device, which removes the walking climb entirely and is what allows the ride to operate comfortably in cooler weather - riders stay in the raft and out of the wind from the moment they load.
Riders enter the flume from the platform and travel through a sequence in which the raft rotates, swings and rises and falls. Haisan describes the resulting experience as very rich and exciting, and the ride is one of the slides that prove very popular with tourists. The variety comes from the flume geometry: rather than a single descent profile, the raft is repeatedly rotated and swung, so the ride delivers a series of different sensations inside one circuit rather than the single drop that a conventional raft slide offers.
Tower height ranges from 8 to 18 metres, with five riders per raft, a theoretical capacity of 320 to 400 persons per hour and an occupied area of 1,200 to 2,200 square metres. The relative compactness of the footprint for the capacity delivered, combined with the automated lift and the enclosed nature of the ride, makes the Water Wheel Slide an effective four-season anchor: it can absorb significant guest volumes while remaining comfortable to operate in conditions that would close a conventional outdoor raft slide.
Water Wheel Slide is produced at Haisan's manufacturing base in Guangdong, which covers more than 100,000 square metres and operates fibreglass moulding lines, RTM (resin transfer moulding) equipment and five-axis CNC gantry machining. Slide flumes are built from fibreglass-reinforced plastic (FRP) for a smooth, low-friction running surface with consistent wall thickness, while tower and support structures are fabricated from hot-dip galvanized steel to resist corrosion in permanent outdoor service. Each flume section is checked for thickness and joint alignment and is dry-assembled in the factory before shipment, so on-site erection is fast and predictable.
Water Wheel Slide is designed and manufactured in accordance with GB 8408-2018 (Safety Code for Large Amusement Devices), GB/T 18164-2020, GB/T 18168-2017 (General Technical Conditions for Water Amusement Facilities) and TSG 71-2023 (Safety Technical Regulations for Large Amusement Devices). Haisan holds the manufacturing and installation licences required for large amusement devices, and every unit passes in-factory testing and on-site commissioning before handover.
