Board Surfing Pool

A surf simulator that produces a continuous sheet wave. Riders stand or lie on a board and ride the crest - the closest thing to real surfing that a water park can install, and a strong spectator attraction in its own right.

  • ● Floor Space: L 18 m x W 12 m standard; L 22.5 m x W 12.9 m larger option
  • ● Power: 190 kW standard; 220 kW larger option
  • ● Capacity: approximately 15 persons/h
  • ● Riding Positions: standing and prone (lying)
  • ● Water System: high-volume sheet wave over a shaped surface
  • Novelty Factor: ★★★★★>
  • Spectator Value: ★★★★★>
  • Capacity: ★★☆☆☆ >

Stand on the board, ride the crest - surfing without the ocean.

  • Continuous Sheet Wave

a stable, high-volume wave riders can hold position on and recover from.

  • Stand or Lie

two riding positions accommodate beginners and experienced surfers.

  • Built for Spectators

the skill element turns the attraction into a crowd-pulling spectacle.

  • 190 / 220 kW Drive

    power matched to the standard 18 m and larger 22.5 m footprints.

The Board Surfing Pool is a device that simulates surfing on the sea, letting riders experience the thrill of riding a wave without leaving the park. It is the most demanding skill-based attraction in Haisan's range: unlike a slide, where the equipment does the work, the surf simulator requires the rider to control the board, which makes progression visible and repeat riding inevitable.

How It Works

Riders stand or lie on a board in a high-volume sheet of water moving across a shaped surface, and are carried up the crest by the flow. Standing riders carve across the face of the wave; those lying down ride it prone before climbing to their feet. The sheet wave is continuous and stable, so riders can hold a position, recover from a fall and try again without leaving the pool. The waves carry and lift the rider continuously, giving the sensation of riding the wind and waves and conquering the top of the crest - and because competence is visible, the attraction generates a genuine crowd of onlookers.

Configuration and Layout

The standard installation occupies a footprint of 18 by 12 metres, with a larger option of 22.5 by 12.9 metres for sites that can accommodate it. Drive power is 190 kW for the standard unit and 220 kW for the larger, and capacity is approximately 15 riders per hour. That capacity is low by water park standards and is deliberately so: the value of a surf simulator is the experience and the audience it attracts rather than throughput, and it is normally positioned near food and beverage or a main circulation route where the crowd it draws can be served.

Engineering and Materials

Board Surfing Pool is engineered as a complete water-retaining structure, combining a reinforced concrete or steel pool shell, waterproofing, balance tanks, overflow galleries and a closed-loop water treatment system. Pumps, filtration and disinfection are sized to the unit's flow demand so water clarity and hygiene are maintained through peak attendance, and all wetted components are selected for corrosion resistance in continuously chlorinated water.

Safety and Compliance

Board Surfing Pool is designed and manufactured in accordance with GB 8408-2018 (Safety Code for Large Amusement Devices), GB/T 18164-2020, GB/T 18168-2017 (General Technical Conditions for Water Amusement Facilities) and TSG 71-2023 (Safety Technical Regulations for Large Amusement Devices). Haisan holds the manufacturing and installation licences required for large amusement devices, and every unit passes in-factory testing and on-site commissioning before handover.

Delivery and Support

Haisan supplies Board Surfing Pool as part of a full-process package covering concept and layout design, structural calculation, manufacture, shipping, on-site installation, plumbing and electrical works, commissioning, operator training and long-term after-sales support. Because equipment is engineered in modules, delivery and installation can be phased to match the park's construction programme.
